Association 'Ser Cake Designer' Article

Hi!!!

I was so happy when the Portuguese Association ‘Ser Cake Designer’ asked me to write an article about the last Cake International at Birmingham.

I think it’s important for people who are starting in this competition world, to ear and read from us, who are competing and can share our experiences, and also learn from our mistakes, who believe me… Are plenty.

‘Cake Internacional, Birmingham 2015

To start, let me just say that it’s hard to describe everything in a few words. It’s totally overwhelming the vastness of talent in this event. Three days aren’t enough, and we hope that the days had more hours.

I’m new in these competition adventures, and this was the first competition of this magnitude I entered. See my work among such talent, is overwhelming to say the least.

I don’t know how to explain how I felt when I saw the Certificate of Merit, because I never thought that among over 500 wedding cakes, I could bring something home, because each cake I saw fel in love more and more.

It is an immense pride to see Portugal so well represented in this event. I want to congratulate one more time to all who competed. Despite being located in another country, it is always a pleasure to see our little corner being recognized for talent that so often is not valued.

I’ve met so many fantastic people and I had the happiness to be with them in person, such as Lizzo Marek, Zoe Fox, Daniel Diéguez, Dawn Butler, The Queen of Hearts girls … I also had the opportunity to review beautiful people like Sophia Fox, Sónja Azoia, Carina Costa …

The vastness of talent in this contest is impossible to describe. We feel everyone deserves a prize just for the effort and courage to compete.

I thank the Associação Ser Cake Designer the opportunity to share our experience, as well as those who have supported me and made possible my entry in this contest, especially to my husband, who never allowed me to give up, and that tirelessly followed me in this adventure and never stop holding my hand. Thank you.

To all who think to compete, go ahead! Go!!! Plan with time, use many techniques as you can. Have a clean and balanced final product. Believe in yourself. The experience is fantastic and worth every second, every tear, every restless night’s sleep.

Dreams do come true … And all of us are the proof of it.’
